PUTTING
“Let Ontrac be your guide to a smooth and consistent putting stroke”
Statistically, putting accounts for over 40 percent of the score in golf. The Ontrac will help you improve the fundamentals of your stroke, aim/alignment, clubface position, and the path of the putter.
Use the tilted panel of the Ontrac as a guide for your putter to experience the proper path and natural arc of the putting stroke.
Make a stroke, using your arms and shoulders (no wrists) to swing the putter back and forth along the surface of the Ontrac. In a natural arc, the putter will gradually rise off of the ground at the back and front of the stroke. The putter face will stay square to the arc of the swing giving the appearance of slightly opening and closing.
Match the Ontrac to your style of putter. By using the grooves in the base, adjust the angle of the Ontrac to match the angle of the shaft as it enters the putter head. For a blade or heel balanced style of putter the Ontrac will be set in a triangle position as illustrated. For a center shafted or face balanced putter, the face of the Ontrac should be set in more of a vertical position.
ONTRAC PUTTING MIRROR
“The Ontrac mirror is designed to be used independently or with Ontrac.”
When putting with Ontrac, slip the mirror into the notch in the base so that when the heel of the putter is resting against the Ontrac the ball (resting in the notch) is positioned in the center of your putter. As you address the ball, use the mirror to confirm that your eyes are above the ball or just inside that line as you may prefer. Use the perpendicular lines on the mirror to ensure the putter face is square to the target. Swing back and through with the Ontrac guiding your stroke.
When using the mirror without the Ontrac, the concept for using the lines to square your putter face and ensuring your eyes are properly positioned over the ball is the same. You will notice that there are parallel lines on the panel closest to you. You can use these lines on the mirror panel to confirm that your shoulders are square with your putting line.
By placing the ball in the notch and aligning your eyes and shoulders as described, the mirror can be used to achieve accurate aim every time.
